Stay Clear-Headed When Work Gets Intense
Work stress doesn’t always arrive conveniently when you have time to deal with it.
It can happen five minutes before an important meeting. In the middle of a difficult conversation. When you need to make a decision but your thoughts are scattered. Or when somebody says something that makes staying professional considerably harder than it was thirty seconds ago.
Being told to “stay calm” isn’t particularly useful if you don’t know what to do next.
Workday Stress Rescue gives you something to do.
In this course, you’ll learn simple Jin Shin Jyutsu® self-help practices that you can explore during the working day—using your fingers, hands, energy points, mudras and breath.
Many can be practised quietly at your desk or between work demands, giving you practical options to reach for when pressure starts affecting how you feel, think or respond.
What You’ll Explore
You’ll begin with an introduction to Jin Shin Jyutsu®, its traditional understanding of chi and energy flow, and some of the simple ways Jin Shin self-help is practised.
From there, you’ll explore the five attitudes—worry, fear, anger, sadness and trying-to—and learn finger holds associated with each within the Jin Shin tradition.
You’ll then discover five energy points and how they can be incorporated into your self-help when preparing for or navigating demanding professional situations such as meetings, presentations, leadership and decision-making.
Finally, you’ll learn longer practices including the Mediator Mudra and 36 Breaths with the Praying Hands Mudra, giving you additional ways to pause and reset when you have more time.
Built for Real Working Days
You don’t need a meditation room, special equipment or an hour away from your desk.
Depending on the practice, you may simply be holding a finger, placing your hand on a particular area of your body, or taking some deliberate breaths.
That makes these techniques particularly useful to explore around moments such as:
- preparing for an important meeting or presentation
- gathering yourself after a difficult interaction
- feeling emotionally reactive when you still need to respond professionally
- clearing some mental space before making a decision
- creating a pause between one demanding task and the next
- taking a few minutes for yourself during an intense working day
The aim isn’t to eliminate stress from working life. Nor is it to ensure that you never become worried, frustrated or overwhelmed.
It is to give you more options for what you can do when those moments happen.
Don’t Just Learn It. Try It.
Jin Shin Jyutsu® comes from a traditional system of understanding the body and energy. You don’t need to accept every idea in advance to explore the self-help practices taught in this course.
Try one.
Pay attention to how you feel before you begin.
Use the practice.
Then notice what, if anything, changes.
Over time, you can discover which practices you find most useful and which ones you want to keep available for particular situations.
Because the next time someone tells you to “just stay calm”, you’ll have something considerably more useful than the instruction.
You’ll have something you can actually use.
