FOR ORGANISATIONS
For Organisations
Practical communication, performance and wellbeing programmes
for people at work
The most difficult moments at work are rarely difficult because we
don't know enough. They are difficult because we have to communicate
clearly when there is disagreement. Hold a boundary without damaging
a relationship. Think while under pressure. Speak when the stakes are
high. Lead people through conversations that may be uncomfortable.
And sometimes, simply find enough space to pause, breathe, and reset.
Vocalogy offers workshops and programmes for organisations that bring
together practical learning, experienced instructors, and opportunities
to put new skills into practice. Whether you are planning professional
development, a team learning experience, or a workplace wellbeing
programme, we can work with you to create an experience that is relevant
to the people in the room.

01
START WITH THE NEED
What Does Your Team Need?
Different organisations come to us with different needs.
Our programmes currently centre around three areas.
01
Communicate With Greater Clarity
For people who need to express themselves clearly while navigating
the realities of professional relationships. Programmes may explore
areas such as assertiveness, boundaries, disagreement, difficult
conversations and professional communication.
The aim is not simply to know what good communication looks like.
It is to be able to do it when the conversation is actually happening.
02
Perform When the Stakes Are High
Knowing what you want to say is one thing. Being able to say it
clearly when people are watching, questioning or evaluating you
is another.
Explore what happens to communication when the pressure rises.
Develop practical ways of preparing, speaking and responding
more effectively.
03
Create Space for Wellbeing
Not every workplace programme needs to be about doing more.
Vocalogy can also develop experiential sessions around voice,
breath, awareness and wellbeing.
Pause. Notice. Experience familiar aspects of yourself differently.
Suitable for wellbeing initiatives, staff engagement activities
and team experiences.
FROM LEARNING TO ACTION
Learning You Can Use
A workshop can be interesting without changing anything on Monday
morning. We are more interested in what happens afterwards.

Where appropriate, Vocalogy programmes incorporate practical exercises,
scenarios, discussion, roleplay and opportunities to try new ways of
responding. Participants are not simply told what to do.
They have an opportunity to practise doing it.
FLAGSHIP PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATION WORKSHOP
The Art of Confident Assertion
A practical workshop developed and taught by Paul Foo
How do you say no without unnecessarily creating conflict?
How do you disagree while preserving professional respect?
How do you hold your position when someone pushes back?
How do you communicate with authority without becoming aggressive?
The Art of Confident Assertion is a three-hour,
hands-on workshop developed and taught by Paul Foo. Participants
explore practical approaches to assertiveness and then have repeated
opportunities to put them into practice through exercises and roleplay.
Paul also draws upon experiences from his long career in Singapore's
legal and judicial system to illuminate what professional communication
can look like when judgement, relationships and consequences matter.
THE OBJECTIVE
Leave with something you can use.
02
REAL-WORLD APPLICATION
From the Workshop to the Workplace
The Art of Confident Assertion has been run twice by Vocalogy in
small-group settings. Participants have included professionals from
education, government, business, financial services and the
non-profit sector, including people responsible for managing teams.
“
I put what I learnt into practice the very next day.
Fiona T
“
Mr. Foo brings valuable lived experience to the table.
I've learnt a lot.
Yvonne P
“
I've been putting the tools to work in small ways around the office.
The roleplay helped as well.
Samantha L
The measure of a useful professional workshop isn't simply whether
people enjoyed the session.
It is whether something from the room travels back to work with them.

WHO TEACHES
Learn From Experience
Vocalogy's organisational programmes draw upon instructors whose
expertise comes not only from study, but from substantial
professional experience.
01
PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATION
Paul Foo
Paul Foo brings almost four decades of experience in Singapore's
Legal Service to Vocalogy's professional communication programmes.
His career has included appointments as
Judicial Commissioner and Registrar of the Supreme Court
of Singapore, as well as becoming the first Dean of the
Singapore Judicial College, where he helped shape the development
of judicial education.
He was appointed Senior Counsel in 2019 and has
also taught at the National University of Singapore.
At Vocalogy
Paul translates lessons from this experience into practical
learning about professional communication.
02
VOICE · PERFORMANCE · WELLBEING
Grace Ng
Grace Ng is the founder of Vocalogy and a voice teacher and coach
whose work explores the relationship between voice, performance
and the person using it.
A former lawyer, Grace has spent two decades working with singers,
speakers and professionals. Her approach combines functional
voicework with perspectives from somatic practice, performance,
breath, sensory awareness and her wider training in wellbeing
and brain-based approaches.
For organisations
Grace's work is particularly relevant where
voice, communication, performance under pressure and
wellbeing intersect.
TAILORED APPROACH
Different Expertise. The Right Programme.
Not every Vocalogy programme is taught by both Paul and Grace.
Nor does every organisation need the same combination of expertise.

What are your people trying to do — and what is getting in the way?
Some programmes, such as The Art of Confident Assertion,
are developed and taught entirely by Paul. Others may draw upon Grace's
expertise in voice, performance and wellbeing. Where their areas of
expertise genuinely complement one another, programmes may also be
developed that bring both perspectives together.
FOR LEGAL PROFESSIONALS
For Lawyers and Legal Professionals
Some professional environments place particularly high demands on
communication. The legal profession is one of them.
Explain complex ideas clearly
Defend a position
Respond to challenge
Manage clients and colleagues
Supervise others
Make difficult decisions
Paul's extensive experience across Singapore's legal and judicial
system gives Vocalogy the opportunity to develop professional
communication programmes specifically for members of the legal
profession.
These may be relevant to lawyers at different stages of their careers,
from younger practitioners finding their professional footing to
experienced lawyers taking on greater leadership and people
responsibilities.
Our aim is to develop programmes informed by an understanding
of the profession itself.

FLEXIBLE DELIVERY
Programmes That Fit the People in the Room
A useful workshop should make sense in the environment participants
return to. Where appropriate, existing programmes can therefore be
adapted to reflect the situations, professional relationships and
communication demands relevant to your organisation.
Depending on the programme, this may include:
- Practical scenarios and roleplay
- Facilitated discussion
- Individual and group exercises
- Opportunities to rehearse difficult situations
- Voice and communication exercises
- Reflection and application to real working contexts

a catalogue of generic training topics.
LET'S START WITH YOUR PEOPLE
Planning Something for Your Team?
You may already know exactly what you are looking for. Or you may
simply know that your team needs help communicating more effectively,
performing with greater confidence or creating some space for wellbeing.
Either is a good place to begin.
Tell us about your organisation, the people who will be attending
and what you would like the programme to help them do differently.
