Heavy Makeup Rescue

Your Makeup Has to Stay On. What Can You Do in the Meantime?

Long production days create a particular problem for performers.

You’ve been wearing heavy makeup for hours. You’re under stage or studio lights. Your makeup may have been touched up or reapplied repeatedly. Your skin feels hot, tight, dry, irritated or simply ready for the day to be over.

But you’re not finished yet.

You may have another scene, another take, another rehearsal or another act to get through before you can finally remove everything and follow your usual skincare routine.

Heavy Makeup Rescue gives you some simple Jin Shin Jyutsu® self-help practices to explore during those hours in between.

No skincare products are required.

No special equipment.

And several of the practices can be explored without removing your makeup.

This Course Was Made for Real Performance Days

Performance and production work doesn’t always give you ideal conditions for looking after yourself.

There are long hours. Stage lights. Repeated makeup application. Waiting. Short breaks. Unpredictable schedules.

That’s why the practices in this course are deliberately simple.

You can explore them:

  • backstage
  • between takes
  • during rehearsals
  • in the dressing room
  • while waiting on set
  • after removing your makeup

You don’t need to memorise complicated theory or perform an elaborate routine.

Learn the practice. Try it. Pay attention. Notice what happens.

How to Use This Course

You can work through all five modules in order the first time so that you understand the different practices available to you.

After that, treat the course as a performer’s toolkit.

Skin feeling hot or looking red? Return to that module.

Feeling dry and tight after hours in makeup? Revisit the relevant practice.

Waiting backstage with time on your hands? Use the foundational practice from Module 1.

Want to understand the traditional Jin Shin thinking behind what you’ve been doing? Return to Module 5.

You don’t have to use every practice every day.

The point is to know what your options are so that when you need one, you know where to find it and what to do.

What You’ll Learn

Module 1 — Something You Can Do While Waiting

Performers spend a surprising amount of time waiting.

This first module gives you one foundational Jin Shin self-help practice to remember—something simple you can explore during the gaps in a long performance or production day.

Think of this as the practice to keep in your back pocket when you can’t remember anything else.

Module 2 — Supporting Redness & Heat

When hours in makeup and demanding performance conditions leave your skin feeling hot or looking red, you’ll learn a simple Jin Shin self-help practice to explore.

Try the practice and pay attention to your own experience before and afterwards.

Module 3 — Supporting Reactive Skin & Breakouts

If prolonged makeup wear coincides with skin that feels reactive or when breakouts are a concern, this module gives you another Jin Shin self-help approach to explore.

This is self-help rather than treatment for a skin condition, so persistent or concerning symptoms should always be discussed with an appropriate healthcare professional.

Module 4 — Supporting Dry, Tight & Makeup-Stressed Skin

Long hours in makeup can sometimes leave skin feeling dry, tight or simply exhausted by the end of the day.

This module introduces another simple Jin Shin practice you can explore when those are the sensations you’re noticing.

Module 5 — Why This Works

Once you’ve experienced the practical techniques, we’ll look at the traditional ideas behind them.

You’ll be introduced to Jin Shin Jyutsu, its energetic framework and some of the traditional concepts that inform the practices you’ve been using throughout the course.

You don’t need to accept or memorise the entire theoretical system to explore the practices.

The theory is there to help you understand why these particular practices were chosen within the Jin Shin tradition.

Before You Begin

There is no “perfect” way you need to experience these practices.

Before trying one, simply take a moment to notice what’s happening.

How does your skin feel?

What sensations are you aware of?

Then use the practice as demonstrated.

Afterwards, notice again.

Did anything change? Did nothing change? Did you notice something you weren’t aware of before?

Your own experience is the useful information.

An Important Note About Your Skin

Heavy Makeup Rescue is an educational self-help course. It isn’t skincare treatment and isn’t a substitute for medical diagnosis, dermatological care or appropriate professional skincare.

Redness, irritation, dryness, breakouts and other skin changes can have many causes. If symptoms are persistent, severe, worsening or concerning, seek advice from an appropriate healthcare professional or dermatologist.

Jin Shin Jyutsu is presented in this course as a traditional self-help practice, not as a medical treatment for skin disease.

You’re Ready to Begin

Some performance days are going to be long.

The makeup may have to stay on.

The lights may have to stay on.

And you may still have hours before somebody finally says, “That’s a wrap.”

You can’t always change the conditions of the job.

But you can have something you can actually use while you’re in them.
